Facts That Count

  • In 2004-2005, the average number of reports per day for suspected child abuse, neglect and threatened harm in District One was 28.
  • In 2004 – 2005 there were 13,687 abuse investigations in the 5 county areas Families Count serves.
  • Families Count Programs served over 10,000 children in 2005-2006.

In 2006 in District 1:

  • There were 11 child deaths from abuse.
  • There were 9,815 abuse reports in District 1. The Child Protection Team provided services to 2,279 children from those reports.
  • The Family Support Team kept 93% of the children in the program free from abuse or neglect during services.
  • Healthy Families kept 100% of the children in the program free from abuse or neglect within 12 months of completion of the program.
  • The Rapid Response program in the Escambia County Schools provided 286 classroom presentations and 13 teacher in-service presentation identifying 320 children at risk of abuse and neglect.
  • Family Place on the Square provided over $50,000 worth of financial vouchers to needy families to assist with economic self sufficiency.
  • Overall 98% of customers were satisfied with services received from Families Count.
